Upcoming CUSP Events
Community-Wide Thanksgiving Service on November 24, 2024, 5:30 PM at Trinity Reformed Church (712 Apple Avenue in Holland). Note that we will begin our service a half hour later than usual, to meet our host's scheduling constraints. Rev. Amanda Bakale, pastor of Trinity Reformed, will preside over the service, and Dr. Cornelius (Neal) Plantinga, Jr., former president of Calvin University, will deliver our sermon. Our scripture readings will be Joel 2:21-27, Psalm 126, 1 Timothy 2:1-7, and Matthew 6:25-33.
Community-Wide Prayer Service in observance of the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on Sunday, January 19, 2025, 5:00 PM at Second Reformed Church (225 E Central Avenue in Zeeland). The 2025 theme is "Do you believe this?" (John 11:26). Our scripture readings will be Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 131, 1 Peter 1:3-9, and John 20:24-29.
The year 2025 is a special year for the cause of Christian unity, because it is the 1,700th anniversary of the ecumenical council of Nicaea, which established the Nicene Creed. Christians around the world proclaim this creed as a foundational statement of our belief in the Triune God.
